How to recycle

This may seem like a pretty basic thing to take into account, however recycling is only affective when done right. Always read labels and follow recycling. directions unique to each item. However in instances where labels aren't provided, use universal recycling rules! Clean all materials before recycling (wash sticky bottles or take out trash from cardboard boxes), remove food and liquids, and plastic bags that may carry your recyclables. Now, what can you recycle? Its important to make sure your bin doesn't have any special requirements before moving on.

  1. Clean plastic bottles and containers

  2. Empty and clean food and beverage cans: tin, aluminum, steel, and in some cases empty, clean, aerosol cans without plastic coverings

  3. Empty and clean food and beverage containers: make sure to read recycling rules unique to your city on clean cartons, juice boxes, or other containers

  4. Paper and flattened cardboard/paperboard: wet paper should be composted, otherwise, make sure no food is recycled (compost that!).

  5. Glass bottles/containers: make sure to read recycling rules unique to your city

Do not recycle:

  1. Plastic bags

  2. Plastic wrap

  3. Flexible packagings

  4. Foam and plastic food or take out containers

  5. Cups with wax/plastic coatings

  6. Items that may tangle together

  7. Medical or hazardous waste

  8. Dirty diapers

  9. Household or garage items

Make sure to separate and organize your recycling as well!

Recycling may be the first thing most people think of when they want to turn more eco friendly and it is one of the many easy things you can do! Benefits of recycling range from limiting landfill production to reducing global warming and even saving money! By recycling, you can make some money because some recycling centers pay for your recycling well as reusing and recycling items in your own home reduces the amount of things you buy regularly, such as rags. So take the first. step, put that empty water bottle in the recycling bin instead of trash can!
